Military Science Instructor

Sergeant First Class Mills assumed the role of Military Science Instructor at the University of Arizona Wildcat Battalion on December 10, 2021. He enlisted in the Army as an 11B in February 2006. 

SFC Mills completed one station unit training at Fort Benning, GA. His first assignment after basic training was Camp Casey, South Korea with 2ID, 2-9IN. He then went on to Joint Base Lewis-McCord, WA and served with 2ID, 1-17IN BN. He would go on to deploy with the 1-17IN BN to Afghanistan, filling various roles from saw-gunner, to team and squad leader. SFC Mills would later return to Afghanistan from 2011-2012 with I Corps. Following his second deployment, SFC Mills moved to his next assignment in Hohenfels, Germany. He served as a squad leader in 1-4IN BN, whose primary mission was training support for rotational units. While in 1-4IN BN, SFC Mills was mobilized to Romania as part of a multi-national training and presence operation. After his assignment in Germany, SFC Mills left Europe for CONUS assignments in Maryland, where he served as a recruiter in Columbia and a MEPS NCO at Ft. Meade. SFC Mills returned to the line with the 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Polk, LA where he served as a Platoon Sergeant. He and his unit were mobilized in support of the Southwest Border Mission in 2019, supporting CBP at the Douglas, AZ border, before eventually coming to the Wildcat Battalion.

SFC Mills has been awarded the Purple Heart, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Expert Infantry Badge. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne, Air Assault, and Recruiting schools.

SFC Mills has been honorably serving in the Army for 16 years.
