SFC Adam Gibbs
Sergeant First Class Gibbs assumed the role of Military Science Instructor at the University of Arizona Wildcat Battalion on December 10, 2022. He is a native of Sacramento, California and enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in November of 2000 as a 91K (68K) Military Laboratory Technician. In March of 2007, SFC Gibbs reclassified into the active Army as an 11C Indirect Fire Infantryman.
SFC Gibbs completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia in July of 2007 and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany where he deployed to Iraq in August of 2007. As a member of 1/18 IN BN, he served as a rifleman and indirect fire infantryman. In 2008, his unit reflagged to 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 172nd Infantry Brigade. While serving in 1/2 IN BN, he performed the duties of mortar carrier driver, gunner and fire direction computer. He deployed with his unit to Iraq in 2008 and to Afghanistan in 2011. Following his return home, SFC Gibbs was assigned to 3rd Cavalry Regiment in Fort Hood, Texas where he served as a squad leader, section sergeant and section leader. He deployed with 3/3 CR to Afghanistan in 2013. His next assignment was 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Vilseck, Germany where he served as a mortar section leader and conducted training exercises across Europe in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. SFC Gibbs was then assigned to the Joint Multinational Training Center in Hohenfels, Germany as an Observer, Coach, Trainer. During his tenure as an OC/T, he facilitated the joint training of US forces and NATO partnered and allied forces throughout the European theater before joining 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment as a rifle platoon sergeant and the battalion mortar platoon sergeant.
His awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert Infantryman Badge.
