CPT Zach Blue-Thompson

CPT Blue

CPT Zach Blue-Thompson is a native of Austin, Texas. He graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in German Language and a minor in Military Science in 2016. He commissioned as an Infantry Officer with a branch detail to the Signal Corps.


 

His first assignment was to the 2-504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division located in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. There he held positions as Assistant S-3 and Platoon Leader. While serving with the White Devil Battalion, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Freedom’s Sentinel.


 

In 2020, he graduated from the Signal Captain’s Career Course and was assigned as the Commander of Charlie Company 40th Expeditionary Signal Battalion in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. While there he participated in several deployment exercises to include Global Defender. In 2022, CPT Blue-Thompson was assigned as the OIC of NETCOM’s Training and Exercise Division where he coordinated and managed signal and cyber assets for training exercises around the globe.


 

He was then assigned as the Commander of the Monterey Bay Recruiting Company in 2023, controlling all recruiting operations from Carmel, California to San Jose. He arrived at the University of Arizona the summer of 2024 with his wife Ariel and their two sons Laken and Alexander. They hope to make many more great memories here in Arizona a part of the Wildcat family.


 

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon, NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
