CPT (P) Jeffers

Captain Tom Jeffers is a native of Batesville, Indiana. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History from the United States Military Academy at West Point where he was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer in 2014. 

 

Upon completion of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course in 2015, Lieutenant Jeffers was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment in 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, where he initially served as a Fire Direction Officer for Bravo Battery. 

 

In 2017 he deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve where he served as a Platoon Leader within Bravo Battery and subsequently as the Battery Executive Officer. In these capacities he oversaw operations and logistics from firing bases in Iraq. 

 

Upon completion of the Field Artillery Captains Career Course in 2018, CPT Jeffers was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division Fires Cell as a Division Assistant Fire Support Officer. As DIV AFSO he deployed within the INDOPACOM to support joint training with allied countries in Thailand and Indonesia in 2019. 

 

Following his time in the 25ID Fires Cell, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 11th Field Artillery where he served as the Squadron Fire Support Officer in 2nd Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment from 2019 to 2021. As 2-14 Cavalry's Fire Support Officer he led the squadron fires cell through Lighting Forge 20 and JRTC 21-01. 

 

In 2021 CPT Jeffers assumed command of Alpha Battery, 2-11 Field Artillery. During his command of A BTRY/ 2-11 FA, the battery deployed to Indonesia for Operation Garuda Shield 21. Operation Garuda Shield saw Gator Battery partner with the Indonesian Army to build relationships and interoperability within the INDOPACOM. During his command the Alpha Battery Gators were awarded the Henry A. Knox Award which recognizes the most outstanding active duty Field Artillery battery each year. 

 

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with "C" Device, Army Achievement Medal, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge.
