CPT Kevin Lewis
After much moving around, Captain Kevin Lewis spent most of his formative years in Kennewick, Washington, located on the “Never Green Side of the Evergreen State.” He assumed his role as Assistant Professor of Military Science/National Guard Liaison in December 2024.
CPT Lewis joined the Utah Army National Guard in 2014 and the Brigham Young University ROTC program. As a cadet, he served with a field artillery battery and a signal intelligence unit. He graduated and commissioned in 2018 with a BS in Recreation Management and Experience Design Management, commissioning into the Quartermaster branch. He later earned an MBA from the University of Utah.
CPT Lewis’s first assignment was as a petroleum officer in the 4th Infantry Division Main Command Post-Operational Detachment (4th ID MCP-OD) before attending the Logistics Basic Officer Leadership Course. Upon completion, he was transferred to the Forward Support Company (FSC), 1457th Engineer Battalion, 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB), Utah Army National Guard. There, he served as Maintenance Control Officer, Distribution Platoon Leader, and Executive Officer.
As a First Lieutenant, CPT Lewis was activated for several domestic operations, including windstorm and fire recovery, and the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, he served as the officer-in-charge for the Utah State PPE warehouse under the direction of the Utah Department of Emergency Management.
After his XO time, CPT Lewis moved to an operations officer position in the 204th MEB support operations section, where he served for a year before returning to the FSC 1457th as Commander. After completing his command time, he relocated to Arizona and joined HHC, 158th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion until accepting a full-time position as APMS with U of A ROTC.
CPT Lewis is Pathfinder-qualified, has earned the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB) in Gold, and currently wears the silver Norwegian Foot March badge. He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Marche de Diekirch Ribbon, Utah Emergency Services Ribbon, and Utah Achievement Ribbon. He is also forklift-certified.
